STATE OF NEW JERSEY State Police Urban Search
and Rescue Task Force
The New Jersey State Police has placed three Hackneys
into their fleet to respond to Special Operations
involving potential mass destruction. The purchase
included two (2) Hackney TR1882 Super Rescue Trailers
and one (1) Hackney CR0882 Emergency Support Unit
with rear command center.
The trailers are 42 feet long with a combined overall
length including the tractor of 56.5 feet with a storage
capacity of 1455 cu.ft. Equipment is FEMA pallet loaded
or containerized loaded in the compartments. With
a flood direct load rating on all Hackney bodies and
trailers of 2300 lbs., pallet loading is not a problem.
Trailer number one is equipped with
a 60kw Onan diesel generator mounted on the rear of
the trailer with a 100 gallon fuel tank. The generator
powers a 26.5 cfm Scott Avenger air compressor and
trailer mounted flood lights.
Trailer number two features a Kesmac
Lift truck rated at 4500 lbs. The lift truck articulates
for close proximity transport on the rear of the trailer
and is used for loading and unloading USAR palletized
equipment.
Both the trailers were deployed
immediately upon receipt by the State Police to the
World Trade Center collapse and stayed on site for
two weeks during search and rescue operations. The
air unit ran continuously for a number of days acting
as the primary supplier of breathing air for the recovery
teams.
