The Garland Fire Department took
delivery of a Hackney model TC1582 Rescue Trailer.
The tractor is a four-wheel drive Freightliner FL80
with 275hp Caterpillar; four door cab with four SCBA
seats. The tractor/trailer will be dedicated to confined
space and collapse rescue operations for the Metro-Dallas
area. It features compartments in the rear for storage
of up to eighteen 4x8 shoring panels and numerous
6x6 and 4x4 shoring beams. Afold-down ramp is installed
in one of the 42" deep side compartments for
loading and unloading of a Stanley power unit. A 12,000lb
winch is installed on the extended front bumper. Utility
air is supplied by a 9,000 watt diesel generator.
Other features include: Hurst hydraulic hose reels,
cord reels, air hose reels, tri-pod flood lighting,
fluorescent lighting in all compartments, swing-out
tool boards, right side full length awning and Vectra
voice alert warning system.
