USAR Trailer

EAST-WEST GATEWAY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS St. Louis, Missouri Five (5) USAR Tractor/Trailers were custom designed for the eastern Missouri region under the auspices of the East-West Gateway Council of Governments. The project was managed by Robb Watkins with the St. Charles City Fire Department. Units will be staged as follows: Task Force 1 – St.Charles City FD, MO Task Force 2 – St. Louis City FD, MO Task Force 3 – Monarch FPD, Chesterfield, MO Task Force 4 – St. Clair County, Sauget, IL Task Force 5 – Union FPD, Union, MO   Fold-down Ramp provides safe loading and unloading of the heavy Stanley Power Tool. Note storage tubes for Stanley breakers next to PU. 26.5 cfm, 6000 psi breathing air compressor is located above the tractor wheels powered by a 40kw PTO generator on tractor. Six 6000 psi ASME’s are stacked over tractor wheels with RevolveAir fill station in first tall compartment. 40” deep full height slide-out tool boards will accommodate all long tools and selected air shores. Umbilical connections between tractor and trailer provide multiplex interface for all 12VDC appliances and 200-amp connection from 40kw PTO generator on tractor powering the two light towers, 25hp compressor motors and other options on the trailer. Saddle compartment on tractor houses two industrial outlets.   Rear compartment houses all hydraulic extrication equipment for rapid deployment.   Freightliner M2-112 tractor provides plenty of pulling power with a Caterpillar C13, 410 hp engine and Allison 4000 EVS transmission. The tractor provides electrical power from a frame mounted 40kw, 3-phase PTO generator. Two NightScan light towers with six MagnaFire light heads that are capable of multi-directional use and portable flood lighting provides lighting that illuminates the night sky. The electrical system is fully multitplexed between the tractor and trailer. Controls are through a full color VISTA graphics screen in the cab console that controls all emergency lighting, scene lights, PTO engages and other 12VDC features. Although not completed at time of photo shoot,air shores will be mounted on the slide-out boards with pads and other accessories in the transverse belly compartment. Additional acetylene tanks and torches will be mounted in front of oxygen cylinders. 43” deep, full height compartments provide incredible storage space that is ergonomically accessible. Note low ground height. Hackney’s unique drop/pinch frame design permits incredible storage capacity on a given wheelbase. Because all compartments are 43” deep from the lower floor to the ceiling, inventory can be stored in a manner that permits immediate, safe access without requirements for removing other non-essential equipment.
