The Denver International Airport,
one of the most modern in the world, operates a Hackney
TR1382 USAR tractor-trailer to respond to incidents
in and around the airport facility. The tractor is
an International 4800 4x4 with Super Single tires
front and rear. The extended front bumper incorporates
a 12,000 lb. Ramsey winch. Behind the cab is a separate
module with full height roll-up doors that stores
the 25kw hydraulic generator on the left side and
a PTO driven screw compressor with a 175 cfm output
for operating air hammers, vacuums and utility tools.
The upper section of the module accommodates two electric
cord reels and two utility air hose reels. A 750 watt
flood light is mounted on the left and right roof
rails.
The 27 ft. USAR trailer features
ten side compartments with roll-up doors, a transverse
belly compartment forward of the rear trailer wheels
and two tunnel compartments on the rear. The rear
tunnel compartments are configured to carry up to
50 sheets of 4 x 8 sheets of plywood and
multiple 4" x 4" x 8 shoring timbers.
The left and right side compartments are "mirrored",
carrying the exact equipment on each side that includes
a complete compliment of hydraulic rescue tools and
air bags. Mounted in the front compartment is a 12kw
diesel generator that powers two 4000 watt Will-Burt
NightScan light towers and numerous outlets on the
trailer.
