All space in the wheelskirt panels was filled with slide-out Speedi-Dri dispensing hopper and three space SCBA bottle storage tubes.

Pineland, located in east Texas near the Louisiana border, purchased a Hackney rescue mounted on a Freightliner M2, four-door cab with four SCBA seating position s(in addition to driver). The chassis features a Cummins  300 hp engine; Allison 3000EVS automatic transmission; 12,000# front axle; 23,000# rear axle; and 275-amp alternator.

The 19-ft body includes nine (9) compartments and a recessed roof with two coffin compartments and nested light tower.  It is a medium-duty that has all the benefits of a heavy!  Pineland chose the Hackney drop/pinch frame to maximize storage capacity and simplifying equipment storage and retrieval. The four forward compartments are 40” deep from floor to top of door opening. The rear frame is also dropped allowing installation of a 73” high compartment over the bumper for placement of all hydraulic rescue tools and reels.

The OEM front bumper was removed and replaced with a straight fire service type stainless steel bumper and extended to 26” to allow nesting/storage/use of a 9000# portable winch. A Q2B siren and air horns were installed on the bumper.

Drop/Pinch frame permits installation of 36” deep slide-out tool boards from floor to top of door opening.

The department upgraded the electrical system to full V-MUX multiplexing to allow remote field diagnostics and display graphically and textually compartment open and light tower deployed warnings. The LCD screen will also display, on a separate screen, all vehicle data including oil capacity and types of filters.  

Other features include:

  • Vehicle data recorder
  • Tunnel in top of wheelhouse compartment for stokes basket and (2) long backboards retrievable from either side
  • Spare SCBA bottle storage tubes – twelve (12) in the body and six (6) in the wheelskirt panels
  • Safety interlock to prevent the vehicle from being moved when the light tower is extended
  • LED tail lights and marker lights
  • Auxiliary upper stop lights with Jake Brake activation
  • LED traffic advisor light bar
  • Upper side body 12vdc halogen scene lights (2 each side) – manual, reverse and turn signal activated
  • Upper rear body 12vdc halogen scene lights (2) - manual and reverse activated
  • LED compartment strip lights recessed in side walls
  • LED roof coffin compartment lights
  • Ground lights front, sides and rear – activated by doors, reverse and turn signals
  • Whelen NFPA LED warning lights
  • Whelen electronic siren and two speakers
  • 25kw PTO Onan generator mounted in left front compartment
  • Tripod flood lights on left rear body (2)
  • Upper side body 240vac flood lights
  • Command light tower
  • Storage rack for (4) 6000 psi DOT receivers for cascade system

The extended front bumper includes a drop-down center section accessing a 10,000# receiver. The receiver serves as an operational point, in addition to the left, right and rear receiver locations, as well as a storage location for the 9000# portable winch

The rear frame is dropped to provide a full height rescue tool compartment. Brackets and prewiring are provided for hydraulic hose reels.
