EL
PASO COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES West Valley Fire Department
- El Paso, Texas
The West Valley Fire Department
protects the western side of El Paso on the north
and south side of I-10 to the Rio Grande River. The
district includes heavy industry, warehousing and
residential properties and a vast population of both
residents and transit traffic. MHC Kenworth was the
selling agent.
The Hackney DF0973R body is mounted
on a Kenworth T-300 cab/chassis with 330hp Cummins
engine and 6-speed Allison transmission.
Ten thousand pound receivers are
installed on the left, right and rear of the body
for a portable 9000 lb Warn winch operation. The right
front compartment is configured for diasaster support
and carries two rows (up to 30) folding chairs and
two 30 x 72 folding tables.
A two-bottle SCBA fill enclosure is located in the
right rear compartment connected to a bank of six
6000 psi DOT storage cylinders. Located in the aft
section of the wheelhouse compartment, adjacent to
the fill station, are twenty (20) spare SCBA bottles.
A slide-out rack is
located just forward of the right wheelhouse compartment
that accommodates up to six complete SCBAs in
a backup and go donning configuration.
Next to these is a isolated and vented rope storage
compartment and microwave oven.
The all-aluminum, lightweight
body features nine compartments. The compartments
forward of the rear wheels take advantage of Hackney
exclusive drop/pinch frame technology, providing 40
compartment depth at the lower floor level all the
way to the top of the compartment, greatly increasing
the total storage capacity without requiring a longer
wheelbase. Download the PDF drawing below to see how
this body is configured.
