Cobb County is now operating its second Hackney Air/Light vehicle serving the busy north Atlanta metro area. The 18-ft body has nine roll-up door compartments. The four compartments forward of the rear wheels are 40" deep floor to ceiling courtesy of the drop/pinch frame. It is mounted on an International 4400 with 330 hp engine.
The breathing air system is a Scott 26 cfm using a cast-iron Ingersoll block that operates at a cool and quiet 1000 rpm's. The fill station is a RevolveAir that permits two SCBA bottles to filled while two more are being staged, increasing filling capacity per/hour by 30% over conventional systems.
The right front compartment has tubes for storage of thirty (30) one-hour SCBA bottles and twelve (12) "E" cylinders of medical oxygen. A tunnel compartment in the top of the second compartment carries not less than twenty (20) long backboards. The backboards and oxygen are for MCI deployments.
A 40,000 watt, 3-phase Onan PTO generator provides power to the compressor, the NightScan light tower and two portable tripod flood lights.
All lighting is LED with a V-MUX multiplexed electrical system and color Vista LCD control panel.
A 40KW PTO generator, mounted inside the left front compartment, provides power to the 20 hp electric motor for the 26 cfm air compressor mounted in the wheelhouse compartment. The tunnel storage behind a drop-down hinged door in the second compartment provides convenient access to twenty (20) long backboards.
Six 6000 psi ASME storage vessels are installed in a manner that permits full air flow through the receivers and across the cooling system of the compressor for long-term, cool operations. Spare SCBA and oxygen bottle storage tubes are located in the front compartment. The fill station is mounted in the rear with a notch in the bumper to permit operator close access.
