Tacoma, Washington selected a Hackney
Mobile Air Unit to supply the busy metropolitan area
with high performance breathing air. The unit is equipped
with a Hackney/American Breathing Air Avenger 36 air
system with an Ingersoll-Rand compressor and two RevolvAirr®
fill stations in the rear. The Quiet work environment
is unique to the Hackney installation due to low rpm
level of the American- made Ingersoll-Rand compressor,
which runs at an incredibly low 1000 rpm's. The twin
RevolvAirr® fill stations are designed for two
man operation and air color-coded, one for 2.2's and
one for 4.5's, or they may be adjusted to allow both
to fill 4.5's. A 40kw Onan PTO generator is ample
power to handle the compressor and operate the 6000
watt Will-Burt NightScan light tower. The compartments
are configured for 48 spare SCBA bottle storage, four
complete SCBA's, a 600 ft. 6000 psi air hose reel,
cord reels, and miscellaneous support equipment. It
is powered by a Freightliner FL106 with 320 hp Series
50 Detroit and Allison HD4060 transmission.
