HENRICO COUNTY DIVISION OF FIRE Richmond, Virginia
Classification: Air & Light
Unit
Henrico County Division of Fire
placed a Hackney Air & Light Unit in service to
serve the greater Richmond, Virginia area. The DFO773AR
body is specifically designed to provide ergometric
operation surrounding the specific mission of providing
on-scene breathing air refills and high output lighting.
The air compressor, receivers and purification filters,
as well as the generator are easily accessible for
service by a technician basically standing outside
the body.
The body is mounted on a Freightliner
FL7O with a Cummins ISC, 300 hp engine, Allison MD3060
transmission and vertical exhaust. The air system
is an American Breathing Air Avenger 36, made exclusively
for Hackney for mobile air manufacturing. It features
an American made Ingersoll-Rand 26.5 cfrm cast-iron
compressor that operates at only 1000 rpm's, the quietest
compressor available.
The fill station is the unique RevolveAir
mounted in the back compartment away from engine and
compressor noise. Normal conversations can be conducted
while at maximum fill operations. The RevolveAir permits
up to 25% more fills per hour than any other fill
station available. The 20 hp, 3-phase compressor motor
is powered by an Onan ProTec 40kw PTO generator mounted
within the left front compartment, isolated from corrosive
road spray. In addition to the compressor, the generator
also powers two (2) Will-Burt 6000 watt NightScan
light towers, one at the front and one at the rear
of the body. There are two (2) 500 watt tn-pod floodlights
on the rear of the body.
The left and right side rear compartments
store forty (40) spare SCBA bottles, twenty on each
side. A 4.3 cu.fi. combination 12VDC/l2OVAC refrigerator
is located in the right front compartment for rehab
operations. Another rehab feature are full-length
rollout awnings on the left, right and rear of the
body. This truck was sold by Steve Zeliff with TruckCenter
of Tidewater.
