The Fulton County Fire Department,
serving the metro-Atlanta area, recently took delivery
of a Hackney DF0773 Air & Light Truck. The Fl70
included a 300 hp Cummins with MD3060 transmission
and vertical exhaust.
An installed American/Hackney Avenger
36 Air Charge System includes an Ingersoll-Rand 26.5-cfm,
5200-psi compressor that operates at a mere 950 rpm's.
This compressor is by far the quietest and coolest
running compressor on the market. The fill station
is the extraordinarily simple to operate RevolveAir®
with computerized fill controls (see Air Trucks section
for details). The compressor is powered by an Onan
40kw Protec PTO generator mounted within the left
front compartment to protect the components from corrosive
road spray.
A 6000-watt NightScan®
light tower provides daylight conditions for night
operations. The left and right rear compartments are
designed to store up to 48 spare SCBA bottles. A roll-out
awning is installed at the rear of the body to provide
shelter for technicians operating the fill station.
Cord reels for portable lighting, as well as technical
support equipment are stored in the unit's spacious
40" deep forward compartments.
