The
Weston Volunteer Fire Department in Weston, Connecticut
operates a Hackney SD0964-102 Rescue mounted a on
four-wheel drive Ford F-550 cab/chassis. The 201"
wheelbase permits a 16-ft long body to be mounted
with a total of nine (9) individual compartments (see
drawings). Mounted on the front bumper is a 12,000#
Ramsey winch and a 10,000# trailer hitch under the
rear bumper.A 12,500 watt Onan diesel GenSet is mounted
in #2 street side compartment and is capable of operating
with the doors closed. It powers a light tower with
four (4) 900 watt MagnaFire flood lights; two (2)
750 watt tri-pod flood lights; two (2) Hannay cord
reels with 200-ft cord; and multiple outlets placed
around the body. The generator also provides power
for operating a 7.9 cfm utility air compressor that
is plumbed to two (2) 150-ft air hose reels and two
(2) recessed outlets in the wheelhouse panels. A 220-volt
Hurst Simo pump utilizes the 220VAC leg of the generator.
The pump is plumbed to two (2) electric rewind hydraulic
hose reels in the rear extrication tool compartment.
The electrical system is operated by a 100% multiplexed
V-MUX system with Vista Display Command Screen on
the cab console.
It operates the NFPA 1901 lighting package with all-LED
Whelen flashing lights and Whelen strobe light bar.
Six (6) Whelen halogen scene lights provide instant
scene lighting prior to activation of the generator
and flood lights. All other space is consumed with
storage for eighteen (18) spare SCBA bottles; tunnels
for storage of a stokes basket stretcher, long backboard
and long cribbing; two (2) slide-out tool boards;
20-ft roof ladder and 10-ft folding ladder; three
(3) pike poles; and multiple adjustable shelves and
slide-out trays. A lot of equipment carrying capability!
