WEST END VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUAD
Richmond, Virginia
The West End Volunteer Rescue Squad provides much of the special rescue responses as a back up to the Richmond Fire Department. They have chosen to supplement their response capabilities with a Hackney HLR rescue. The chassis selected was a Chevrolet C5500 4x4 with 330 hp engine. The 14.5-ft long, 9-compartment body features all roll-up doors with a total of 421 cu.ft. of storage capacity (all pass-through dimensions).
Amperage demand has been dramatically reduced with the use of 100% LED lighting. Lighting includes tail lights, clearance lights, emergency warning lights and light bar, traffic advisor light bar, upper auxiliary brake lights and vertical side wall mounted compartment lights.
The department installed a portable generator in the left front compartment for the telescoping flood lights
Two electric rewind hydraulic hose reels are mounted in the rear compartment for pre-connection to the rescue tools.
