NEW MARTINSVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT
New Martinsville, West Virginia

After being involved in an accident that severely damaged the utility body serving the department as a rescue, New Martinsville FD decided to replace the body with a custom-built Hackney rescue. The Chevrolet 4-door chassis was in excellent condition with very few miles, so it was repainted to match the department fleet colors and placed back in service as a new truck to serve the department for many years to come.

The 7-compartment, 10-ft long body  features durable Hackney roll-up doors. All equipment previously stored on the exterior was moved to customized compartments on the interior. The old electrical system was removed and replaced with a Hackney VisionPlex system providing full NFPA 1901 compliance.

All tail lights and clearance lights were LED. Two (2) Havis 12vdc HID flood lights were installed on each side, plus two (2) Whelen 90 series halogen scene lights on the rear with reverse activations. All emergency warning lights were Whelen LED. Compartment lights were recessed vertically mounted LED.  Pre-wiring was provided for installation of a portable generator to power two telescoping flood lights removed from the old rescue body.  Prewiring and mounting brackets for two hydraulic tool reels was installed in the back compartment.

Although only 10-ft long, this body features lots of versatile, easy-access storage custom designed to accommodate all the specified rescue and service equipment.
