HUNTSVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Huntsville, Arkansas
Huntsville FD was the first to receive a 2011 Ford rescue with an all-new 12,000 watt PTO generator application. The combination of four-wheel drive and 2011 EPA emissions presented an engineering challenge, but the result is now the availability of both 12,000 watt and 20,000 watt generators for light duty rescues that do not consume any valuable compartment space. The generator provides power for light tower, tri-pod flood lights, 240VAC cord reel with 200-ft 10/4 cable with a power distribution box on the end splitting power into two separate 120VAC circuits for reduced loss of amperage on the four outlets in the box. A 240VAC outlet was installed to power two hydraulic rescue tool hose reels mounted in the rear (see photo below). A cascade fill station for SCBA's was installed with four (4) 6000 psi DOT receivers.
