Wetumpka is the county seat of Elmore County, approximately 18 miles north of Montgomery and is the third fastest growing county in Alabama. Holtville/Slapout Fire & Rescue serves this growing area and has added a Hackney light rescue to their fleet enhancing their response capabilities. The chassis of choice was a Ford F550 with extended cab. The 10-ft body provides for a shorter turning radius for the rural response areas. Due to this requirement the department worked with Hackney engineers to take advantage of every square foot of available storage space, maximizing its efficiency. All roll-up doors, recessed shelf tracks and recessed side wall LED compartment lights permit maximum wall-to-wall utilization of this space.
An 8.0 kw Harrison hydraulic generator powers two telescoping flood lights on the front of the body, two removable tripod flood lights on the rear body, a cord reel and multiple power outlets. Plenty of reserve power is available for operating fans and other electrical equipment.
Other features include: Class V trailer hitch; 12,000 lb Warn Trans4mer winch on the front bumper; 1000 lb. slide tray for mounting all hydraulic rescue tools, two hydraulic hose reels; air bag storage slots, stokes basket and backboard storage tunnels; LED tail lights; 12-volt scene lighting; all Whelen LED warning lights; LED traffic advisor.
