Positioned at the southern tip of the Shennadoah Valley near the Virginia and Tennessee border, Cleveland serves a mountainous terrain. Four-wheel drive was not an option for this department, so they chose a Chevrolet C5500 with 330-hp Duramax engine and Allison transmission to handle off-road responses as well as, at times, rough winter weather conditions.
The Hackney HLR0764 is a heavy duty light rescue featuring a 21,000 lb. GVWR. The 12-ft all-aluminum body features all roll-up doors with seven compartments. The extended front bumper houses a 12,000 lb. Warn winch. An array of shelving, slide trays, air bag storage slots, spare SCBA bottle storage tubes and tunnels for stokes basket and long backboards provide organized storage for the departments vast equipment list. All emergency lights are Whelen Super-LED. Tail lights, marker lights and rear
traffic advisor are LED. The interior lighting is
LED strip lighting recessed into the side walls.
A 12,000 watt PTO generator provides more
than enough power to handle the front and rear
telescoping flood lights and hydraulic power
unit.
