Chief Rick Scott needed something
fast, but refused to sacrifice quality for the sake
of a faster delivery. After consulting with Mike Smith
and West Virginia Fire Trucks, Chief Scott chose Hackney
to fulfill the requirements of the Clarksburg Fire
Department. Using Hackney's stock program, he was
able to customize the layout and options and maintain
a quick delivery.
The rescue of choice was a Hackney
SD0764-84 mounted on a Ford F550 two-door cab with
four-wheel drive and T444 diesel engine. The vehicle
fully complies with NFPA 1901, including Whelen upper
and lower zone warning lights. Scene lighting is provided
by two Whelen 810 dual-optics halogen lights on each
side and the rear. Ground lights are placed around
the underside of the body. Additional scene lighting
is provided by 500W Tele-Lite flood lights on the
left and right front of the body connected to a portable
generator. The rear compartment features slide-out
and slide/tilt trays for hydraulic extrication tools.
A special compartment in the upper wheelhouse compartment
conveniently stores a stokes basket stretcher, two
long back boards and a folding ladder. The balance
of the cavernous 363 cu.ft. of storage space is equipped
with adjustable shelving.
