The Toledo Fire Department protects in excess of 45 light to heavy manufacturing plants. Sitting on the shores of Lake Erie, it is a crossroads for highway, rail and shipping of hazardous materials. The Maumee River shipping channel, I-75, I-80, I-90 and rail lines crisscross the city. HazMat responses is everyday life in Toledo and the NW Ohio Region One response area.
Toledo chose Hackney to design and manufacture the most spacious hazmat body available. The body is mounted on a Spartan Gladiator ELFD with 24” raised roof. The chassis frame rails were modified with the Hackney drop/pinch frame technology to vastly increase storage capacity. The chassis is power by a Cummins ISL 400hp engine. Axles: 21,500# front and 27,000# rear. |
