Suffolk Fire & Rescue in the southwestern Virginia
Tidewater region, added a new heavy rescue truck to
their growing fleet in this rapidly growing community.
They choose a Hackney DFC1173R heavy rescue using
a 19.5 foot body with 11-compartments to handle everything
from conventional rescue responses to service support.
The body is mounted on a Spartan Advantage MFD four-door
custom cab with seating for six and a 10" raised
roof. The cab also features a medical storage cabinet
with locking roll-up door on the center of the rear
wall.
Chief Mark Outlaw and his team spent
numerous hours with Hackney engineering personnel
to create a multi-tasked vehicles to serve the rapidly
expanding roll of the fire service for many years
to come. The compartments are furnished with multiple
adjustable shelves and slide-out trays, as well as
two 68" high x 36" deep two-sided slide-out
tool boards, twelve spare SCBA bottle storage tubes,
stokes basket and multiple long backboard tunnels
and a dedicated rear extrication tool compartment
that measures 73" high x 42" wide x 40"
deep. It includes dedicated slide trays for hydraulic
rescue spreader, cutter, rams and accessories. There
are two hydraulic hose reel located in the top of
the compartment. The recessed roof provides additional
storage space in a 12-foot long storage compartment.
Across the front of the recessed roof is a four-lamp
light tower.
A 25-kw Onan PTO generator
provides plenty of power for the light tower, upper
side body flood lights, two rear tri-pod flood lights,
two cord reels and multiple outlets. A utility air
hose reel is provided plumbed to the chassis air system.
Located under the front and rear bumper and just forward
of the left and right rear wheels are 10,000 lb. rated
receivers for accommodating a 9000 lb. electric winch
and rope tie-off points. Emergency lighting is all
strobe controlled through Hackneys 100% multiplexed
electrical system with Vista control panel.
