Seymore Johnson has joined the growing number of United
States Air Force bases that have chosen Hackney to
help protect their base personnel. Seymore Johnson
is home to the "Screaming Eagles" and protects
the world with squadrons of F-15s and other
support aircraft.
They chose the Hackney DF0973R heavy rescue that features
approximately 700 cu.ft. of useable storage capacity.
The body has a recessed roof that accommodates storage
compartments and light tower below the roof line.
The chassis is an International
4800, four-door with 330hp, four-wheel drive. five-man
seating (4 with SCBA cradles), air conditioning for
rehabilitation and polished aluminum alloy wheels.
The extended front bumper provides
placement for the Q2B siren and 10,000# winch receiver.
There are also 10,000# receivers on the left and right
sides and under the rear bumper. A 9,000# Ramsey portable
winch is provided that attaches to any of the four
points.
The ample storage area provides
easily inventoried and accessible equipment placement.
Special accommodations are provided for rescue rope
in an isolated and vented cabinet. Dedicated slots
are installed for rescue air bags, stokes baskets,
multiple long back boards, pike poles and rescue tri-pod.
The rear compartment is configured for hydraulic rescue
tools and is a full 73" high. The lower slide
trays are set up for spreader, cutter and power units.
The slide/tilt tray for rams, chains and other accessories.
In the top of the compartment is a 16 foot tunnel
for storage of a 24 foot two-section and 14 foot roof
ladder. Beneath the ladder tunnel are two hydraulic
hose reels.
A 25kw Onan PTO generator
is installed in the right front compartment to protect
it from corrosive road spray. It powers two electric
cord reels with 200 feet of cord on each, four upper
side body 1000 watt flood lights, 9000 watt NightScan
light tower and multiple outlets. A utility air hose
reel is installed and one air outlet connected to
the chassis air brake system.
