When Sevier County Rescue Squad began looking at adding a heavy rescue to their fleet they had to look no further than down the street. The City of Sevierville Fire Department was so well pleased with the Hackney they had recently purchased that the choice was obvious.
Sevier County is in the western foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains and includes Dollywood ™ as one of it’s responsibilities.
The body is mounted on a Spartan MFD with 10” raised roof with seating for six; alloy wheels with 385/65R-22.5 tires on the front. The extended front bumper features a 15,000 lb. winch, bumper storage compartment, air horns, speakers and Q2B siren.
A 25,000 watt PTO generator is located in the left front compartment. It powers a NightScan light tower, flood lights on the upper left and right side body (2 each side); two tripod mounted flood lights; front cab brow flood light; and cord reel with 200-ft 10/4 cable. A utility air hose reel provides remote air source for air bags and other pneumatic equipment. A matching rescue tool compartment is provided on both the street and curb side complete with hydraulic hose reels and special mounting trays for hydraulic rescue tools.
Other features include 10,000 lb. receivers on the left, right and rear body for portable winch and/or rope tie-off points. All NFPA warning lights are Whelen LED. Also includes LED traffic advisor light bar and LED tail lights and compartment lights. Q2B is mounted on the left side of the front bumper.
Virtually every inch of the 550 cu.ft. of storage space is used with every piece of equipment easily accessible from ground level. Addition storage is provided on the roof in the two coffin compartments.
Rescue tools are mirrors from street side and curb side. Note slide-out hose roller guides and step-block cribbing in lower tray.
The forward wheelhouse compartment includes an upper and lower transverse tunnel for storage: upper folding ladders, stokes basket and backboards; lower shoring panels with strongbacks. 25kw PTO generator is enclosed
in the
forward compartment, protected from corrosive road spray.
