The Hillcrest Fire Department is
located on the south side of the Fort Bragg Military
Reservation and protects the residents on the east
side of the Town of Raeford along busy US Highway
401.
The Department selected a Hackney DFC1173R Heavy Rescue
mounted on a Spartan medium dour-door custom cab/chassis.
The truck was sold by C.W. Williams and Company.
The unit features a 40kw, 3-phase
PTO generator, NightScan light tower nested in the
front of the recessed roof, a front cab mounted flood
light and two tripod flood lights. The 3-ohase generator
powers a dealer installed Bauer compressor system.
A ladder tunnel is provided in the rear compartment
that will accommodate a 24-ft two-section and 14-ft
roof ladder, plus up to six pike poles. The compartments
are provided with an array of slide trays, shelving
and tool boards. All extrication tools are stored
in the rear extrication tool compartment below the
ladder tunnel. All emergency lighting is Whelen LED
controlled by the V-Mux multiplexed electrical system.
