HIGHLAND-PIERRON
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
Highland-Pierron, Illinois
Highland-Pierron Fire Protection
District serves a 72 square mile region that parallels
Interstate 70 approximately 35 miles east of St. Louis.
It is also a major CSX railroad route. Chief Steve
Plocher says the decision to purchase a Hackney was
based on storage space, quality product and
good design.
The Hackney DFC1173R body is mounted on a Spartan
Advantage EMFD custom cab/chassis with 20 raised
roof. The interior
is designed for rehab with a full length squad bench
directly behind the driver and officer seats. The
bench is equipped with three lift-up seat cushions
providing additional storage space beneath. Located
between the left and right forward facing flip-up
seats is a fold-down stainless steel desk and a resource
library cabinet on the upper back wall. The cab is
configured for six seatbelted passengers.
A 9000# Warn portable winch is stored in the front
bumper. A drop-down door on the bumper accesses the
winch for removal and deployment to the other three
receiver locations; one left side body, one right
side body and one under the rear bumper. All are rated
at 10,000 lbs. Click here for further information
on bumper winch
storage.
An electrically operated, full body length, awning
is installed on the left side.
25kw Onan PTO generator powers two
240VAC cord reels that are split into two separate
120VAC circuits to maximize amperage output at the
end of the 200-ft cord length. Two removable MagnaFire
tripod flood lights are located on the left rear body,
four upper side body 900watt MagnaFire flood lights
and NightScan light tower recessed in the front of
the roof round out the lighting capabilities.
A Scott RevolveAir cascade fill station is located
in the right rear compartment with four 6000 psi DOT
cylinders supplying air.
See attached drawings for details on the way Highland-Pierron
configured the vast compartment space.
Shown in the front
compartment is the 25kw PTO generator control panel.
The generator is mounted inside the compartment to
protect it from the road salt prevalent during the
winter months. The second compartment has three 70
high x 36 deep slide-out tool boards. The two
wheelhouse compartments provide out-of-the-way storage
of two long backboards, stokes basket stretcher and
a 12-ft folding ladder. Beneath the ladder tunnel
are four 6000 psi DOT air cylinders supplying the
cascade fill station located in the right rear compartment.
