Goldston, located in the beautiful
Sandhills of North Carolina, has chosen a Hackney
DF0973R heavy rescue body mounted on an International
4400 with 330 hp engine and vertical exhaust. The
body provides 660 cubic feet of useable storage volume
in the ground compartments, plus a recessed roof that
features two additional storage compartments for infrequently
used equipment. A six bank cascade system provides
plenty of breathing air for not only the Goldston
FD, but for surrounding departments as well using
the efficient RevolveAir fill station.
Four (4) 10,000# receivers are installed; front, rear
and each side. The accommodate the 9,000# portable
winch, as well as rope tie-off rings. Awning are installed
on the right side and across the rear for command
operations. The wheelhouse compartment features a
slide-out command desk with resource library above.
Special shelves were designed to
accommodate multiple rolls of LDH. Along with these
special shelves are an array of slide-out trays, tilt
trays and adjustable shelves for structured inventory
access. A slide-out rack is provided that will accommodate
up to eight SCBAs in a "back-up and go"
donning configuration. Transverse compartments are
provided for storage of a 12-ft folding ladder and
pike poles.
A 40,000 watt PTO generator
provides power for the 9000 watt light tower mounted
between the cab and body; three 240VAC cord reels
with split 120V circuits in the power distribution
boxes; multiple outlets and a 200-amp pin and sleeve
outlet. This outlet is designed to provide auxiliary
power to communications systems and hospitals in case
of emergency.
