American Township covers the west side of Lima extending from I-75 and along US 30. The township has a population of over 15,000, plus industry.
The Department selected a Hackney heavy rescue mounted on a Spartan MetroStar MFD, 6-man custom cab. The 19.5-ft long body features 11-compartments, plus two 15-ft long roof compartments. The compartments forward of the rear wheels are 40” deep from lower floor to ceiling increasing the overall storage capacity by as much as 30% over conventional rescue bodies (click here to read Maximizing Storage Capacity for more details).
There are four 10,000# receivers provided for placement of a portable winch: one front; one rear; and one left and right side. A 25,000-watt PTO generator provides power to a 9000-watt Command light tower, tripod flood lights, (4) upper side body flood lights; (2) cord reels and multiple power outlets.
A four-bank cascade fill station is located in the right rear compartment. Some of the many other features include: 80# slide-out Speedi-Dri hopper in right rear wheel skirt panel; drop-down step platforms to access upper reaches of side compartments; air bag storage slots; (2) 60”H x 36”D slide-out tool boards; (2) hydraulic hose reels; storage access for 9000# portable winch in drop-down front bumper; all LED warning lights, tail lights, clearance lights, compartment lights, traffic advisor and Roto-Ray; Q2B siren; aluminum alloy wheels; SCBA seating .
A sliding “Library” ladder parks out of the way of the rear extrication compartment when not in use. The extrication tool compartment is a full 64” high x 40” deep.
