Kentucky Area 1 Hazardous Materials Response Team
has chosen a Hackney CR0882 Haz-Mat Emergency Response
Vehicle to fill their requirements for moving the
team and equipment to regional incidents. The vehicle
features 700 cu.ft. of equipment storage capacity
plus a large command center on the rear of the body.
The vehicle is powered by a Freightliner
M2 with MBE900, 330 hp Mercedes engine. Other chassis
features included a chromed vertical exhaust, aluminum
alloy wheels and 23,000 lb. rear axle.
The 24.5 ft body features six (6)
48" wide x 82" high x 40" deep (floor
to ceiling) compartments and a 52" wide x 57"
high x transverse compartment over the rear wheels.
Located inside the left front compartment is a 25,000
watt PTO generator that powers a light tower with
six 900 watt MagnaFire flood lights with multi-directional
rotation of individual banks of three lights. It also
powers two tri-pod flood lights, 110V fluorescent
compartment lights, cord reel, multiple outlets and
command center air conditioner and heaters. One compartment
is dedicated for storage of eight (8) SCBA's and spare
bottles. The SCBA's
are stored on a slide-out rack with "back-up
and go" donning configuration.
An automatic transfer relay provides power to the
110V compartment lights, air conditioner and command
center outlets through both the generator and shorepower
inlet.
The rear command center features
all-aluminum cabinetry and stainless steel desk surfaces.
Seating is provided in the command center with two
high back swivel chairs with certified seat belts
and a three-man flip-up seat on the back wall.
A deployable observation platform
is provided on the roof meeting OSHA standards accessible
via a certified roof access ladder. Awnings are installed
full length of the body on both the left and right
side. Other features include a David Clark intercom
system, rearview camera and Whelen lighting and siren
packages.
Note 40” deep compartments from floor to ceiling for major storage capacity increase over conventional bodies using by employing the Hackney drop/pinch frame technology. 25KW PTO generator is mounted inside the left front compartment with breaker panel and light tower controls on the face of the enclosure.
