The Boise Fire Department seriously
upgraded their haz-mat response capabilities when
they took delivery of a Hackney TR1482 Haz-Mat Tractor-Trailer
Response Unit. The trailer is a 29 ft. trailer features
a total of fourteen 42" deep compartments with
a total of 1020 cu.ft. of useable storage space. It
is pulled by an International 4900, 4-door tractor
with 320 hp engine. The tractor features a 25kw ONAN
PTO generator with trailer inter-connects. The generator
provides power to a 9000 watt NightScan light tower,
two rear mounted 500 watt tri-pod flood lights, cord
reel and multiple power outlets. Breathing air is
supplied through the RevolveAir carousel fill station
and six 6000 psi ASME receivers. A total of eighteen
(18) spare SCBA bottle are stored in PVC tubes stacked
two wide x nine high. Eight (8) complete SCBAÕs
are stored on a slide-out storage rack that permits
backup and go donning. A 200 gallon poly water tank
is installed in the right rear compartment with a
discharge valve on the rear of the trailer that provides
an extra source of water for decontamination evolutions.
Next to the water tank is an additional decon and
eye wash station with 60 gallons of water and recoiling
shower and eye flush nozzle. Full length awnings are
installed on both sides of the trailer with full enclosure
curtains for inclimate weather or privacy. Two (2)
two-side 78" high x 36" deep tool boards
and space for a 95 gallon overpack drum at floor level
take full advantage of the huge space afforded in
the body design. The balance of the storage space
is arrayed with adjustable shelving and slide-out
trays.
