Bremond is located on US Highway190 halfway between Waco and College Station, Texas and between Interstates 35 to the west and 45 to the east. The large and rugged response area required a rapid response vehicle capable of both on-highway and off-highway capability. The department chose a Hackney LR0764 rescue mounted on a Chevrolet C5500 with four-door cab and four-wheel drive. It features a 21,500 lb. GVWR, 330 hp DuraMax engine, Allison automatic transmission and alloy wheels. The set-back front axle provides a tight turning radius. Excellent visibility is provided by air suspension seats looking out over a sloping hood.
The 12-ft all-aluminum rescue body features seven (7) roll-up doors integrated into the body for maximized storage capacity. The NFPA 1901 compliant emergency lighting system features Whelen Super-LED in all zones, LED Traffic Advisor, Whelen halogen scene lights (2 each side and 2 rear), ground lights, recessed LED compartment light stripes and LED tail and clearance lights, all to minimize amperage draw and provide dependability when subjected to off-road responses.
A 12-kw PTO generator provides plenty of power for flood lights, cord reels and hydraulic rescue power unit.
The rear compartment is designed to carry hydraulic rescue tools. Plenty of protection is afforded for highway responses with four LED upper zone flashing lights, two lower zone flashing lights and LED traffic advisor. Note backup camera over rear compartment and removable tripod flood lights.
