The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department purchased two (2) Disturbance Control Special Ops Response Vehicles through Hackney’s California Dealer - Placer Fire Equipment.
The 18.3-ft long bodies are mounted on a Freightliner M2 chassis with a 25,999 lb GVWR and hydraulic disc brakes that permit operation without a CDL. The body feature ten (10) individual compartments with roll-up doors. The chassis features a Hackney drop/pinch frame that provides 40” compartment depth from lower floor level to the top of compartment for maximizing storage for rapid deployment of shields, special weapons and other control equipment. The left and right sides are mirrored and assigned to individual squads that respond to an incident by patrol car.
The recessed roof area features a left and right side full body length coffin compartment for storage of long equipment/tools. The roof is accessed via an OSHA compliant safety ladder located on the center of the rear body.
The entire vehicle is fully multiplexed and utilizes a LCD control system on the cab console that displays textually system status, including doors that may not be secured. A single point lock system to secure the equipment is located on each side of the body.
All clearance, tail and emergency warning lights are LED.
